Graphic Designer Statement
I’m sure it’s cliche to say that I have had a creative mind since I was a child. I had aspirations of being a fashion designer, a dancer, a writer – anything that wasn’t the daily 9 to 5 desk job. I never thought I was the greatest artist, in fact, I still don’t. I’m not the most talented painter, I could never create a realistic portrait with a pencil. However, graphic designing has allowed my talent to shine and grow more with each project. It has allowed me to discover my eye for precision, for organization, for beauty that just exists in the world. A big part of my process is doubt. A classic philosophy in design is that “iteration is key” – there is a need for trial and error. The problem with this for me is that I will never be satisfied with what I create, which I’m sure many designers and artists can relate to. I will always find something that I trial-ed as an error. If I had unlimited time to work on a single project, I’m sure I would never finish it. I know it sounds bad, but it can be a good thing through a different lens – it just means I strive for perfection, the absolute best pieces I can possibly create.
